I left a pretty lengthy review on book 1 (which was my favorite of the duology) so this one will be shorter. Book two is great continuation of the story and I want to take a minute to thank Kathryn Moon for doing something truly unique and releasing both parts at the same time. That was such a gift. I’m definitely growing weary of waiting months for each new installment for the various series that I have started. By the time the new book releases you feel like you have to start over with the last book(s) to remember where you are picking up from. Sometimes I just lose interest and never continue with the story. This was very smart to release the full story. Thank you!For this second book, it wasn’t quite as intense or HOT but the relationship development and emotional growth for Lola was great in this second book. When I look at the duology as a whole it was such a great read and still sits at the top of my reads so far in 2020. As a standalone I would rate this book with 4 stars but for the story as a whole it is a 5-star read for me. In fact…I have quite the book hangover from this series. I can’t seem to stop re-reading it. I’m afraid to start anything new for fear it couldn’t possibly capture me the way this one did. Not sure what to do. ☹Good job Kathryn! 😊 In Lola's first book, we saw her make so much progress in opening up more and how she interacts with alphas. In this second book, I felt like Ms. Moon really shone a light on the emotions of that progress and the continuation of what's being built between Lola and the pack. With where book 1 ends, I don't think it's spoilery to say Lola's past continues to create an element of danger and reminders of past trauma.The wonderful men that surround her and Baby and her pack are there to support her, but Lola has some work to do on her understanding of her own self-worth and her internal voice that defaults to negativity. As someone who also has a negative internal voice and anxiety/panic attacks, Lola resonates with me in a deep way and especially in this second book. There is a setback for Lola and the pack in this book and how Lola works through it and they come out stronger is beautiful (and hot).The climax of this book was perfect and I'm so glad Ms. Moon wrote how everything played out the way that she did. Then there's an epilogue that left me beyond happy. I finished this duet over the weekend and I've already read it through a second time. I loved it even more the second time!
